Site Requirements

To be considered for an official Snap the Gap program site, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be located in California

  • Must have a minimum of TEN 10-12 year old youth participating in the program

  • Each site requires a volunteer site coordinator (you!). To become a site, you must commit as a site coordinator to facilitate the program and be the ultimate STEM cheerleader.

  • Your site must be associated with an affiliated institution. Affiliations include school-based programs, after-school programs, non-profit organizations, and youth-serving organizations (Girl Scouts, 4H, YMCA, PTA, etc.)
    **If you are not currently associated with an affiliated institution, Snap the Gap recommends connecting with a teacher/principle at a school or presenting this opportunity to an after-school program. Email snapthegap@ucdavis.edu with any questions before applying.

  • Must have dedicated space to host the program

  • Commit to one of the two session schedules

    • 10 weeks (1 session per week)

    • 6 weeks (~2 sessions per week)

  • Provide extra batteries and basic craft materials (cardboard, markers, paper, scissors, tape, recycled materials) 


Site Coordinator Key Responsibilities

*Note: This is a volunteer role

  1. Set program dates, times, and locations

  2. Attend introductory onboarding via Google Hangout

  3. Pair girls with mentors

  4. Distribute Kits to girls

  5. Administer pre and post-surveys
